Mechanical CAD Drafter (SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor)

The role focuses on the mechanical design of electronics and electrical products. The candidate requires knowledge of mechanical assembly processes, part design, product documentation, and documentation control. The candidate will work with electrical design engineering staff as well as marketing and manufacturing in designs and documentation.
The CAD Drafter will follow time-to-market optimized, milestone driven project schedules for new product development. Take direction for design requirements from internal group discussions between engineering, marketing and customer input.
The CAD Drafter will be responsible for maintenance of current product documentation including continuing improvement and process improvement changes.
The CAD Drafter will interact with the engineering manager regularly to take direction, discuss design ideas/issues/improvements and other work related matters.
The CAD drafter will apply strong drafting as well as written and oral communication skills to convey design issues and production instructions across functional and geographical boundaries for technical and non-technical audiences.
The CAD drafter is expected to work with minimal supervision, collaborate with engineering peers, manage their workload, apply good time management practices, prioritize conflict resolutions, coordinate with project groups and demonstrate flexibility.
Job Requirements:
A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Mechanical CAD Drafting or directly related
Three years' minimum experience in Mechanical CAD Drafting
Experience in both engineering designs as well as manufacturing environments is a plus.
Experience/Certification in SolidWorks (Autodesk Inventor is a plus)
Experience using a 3D CAD software to create parts, assemblies and drawings
Experience creating and/or maintaining production instructions
Understanding of document control procedures including revision control and file management
Understanding of processes for sheet metal, plastic parts and injection molding
Experience with electrical and electronics industry is definitely a plus
Ability to evaluate prototype parts by completing first article inspections and builds
Ability to communicate with suppliers for sourcing, quoting and development of parts and materials
Ability to communicate, both verbally and written
Ability to function in a team environment
Excellent Organization skills
Computer literacy and familiarity Microsoft Office products
